Social
For the community of Salt Cay to be functional and sustainable, the basic social needs of its inhabitants need to be met. Improvements to the overall infrastructure, public services and facilities will be a direct result of the proposed development on Salt Cay.
Salt Cay Devco is committed to upgrading the airport and building a Government dock which will make Salt Cay more accessible. This will facilitate travel and make it easier to bring food and supplies to the island. This development will also bring new roads, shops, restaurants and other social necessities and services available on other islands in the Turks and Caicos and the Caribbean. These new social opportunities will offer the residents of Salt Cay a higher quality of life and provide services that are necessary in everyday life.
Devoted to protecting and rejuvenating the historical and cultural charm of the island, Salt Cay Devco is working closely with the TCI Government, Department of Environment & Coastal Resources, TCI National Trust, TCI National Museum and other organizations in an attempt to restore and protect some of the key historical features like the White House, Government House, churches, salt sheds, Bermuda kitchens and the Taylor Hill ruin. It is also proposed that a portion of the Town Salina will be restored and used for production of salt in the traditional way.
With collaborative efforts between Salt Cay Devco and the community we feel confident that the outcome will not only establish a restored and picturesque historic district but improve the social services and islands of Salt Cay for generations to come.
