The Team
Mario Hoffmann, owner of Salt Cay Estates Ltd. and Salt Cay Devco Ltd, is a Slovak national who resides in Slovakia and the TCI. He has many business interests with his core business being in the European financial sector – he is the owner of one of the most successful Slovakian Banks – Postova Banka, ranked the 3rd in Slovakia and having over 700,000 clients. Mario first visited the Turks and Caicos Islands in 1997 and since then has invested extensively, spending 3-4 months a year here. He came to Salt Cay in 1999 and bought his first property in 2001 – originally just to build his vacation house there. Later (2005-2007) he saw that the island of Salt Cay had very poor infrastructure but also a great potential for a small but unique eco-resort whilst protecting the island's unmatched character. What initially began as a place to build his dream home has grown into a mission to create a sustainable, ultra-low density luxury resort that will invest heavily into the infrastructure and uphold the highest standards of environmental and historical preservation on the island of Salt Cay. Mario was born in 1968, and has two children. He is a great sportsman – he was a 2 time Czechoslovak Republic individual champion in canoeing, and in recent years as a member of the Slovak national team in Dragon boats. He has won gold and silver medals in the World Championship and a complete medals collection in the European Championship. He runs the marathon in about 3:30:00.
